Kenneth J. Doka PhD (Poughkeepsie, NY) is a professor of counseling at The College of New Rochelle. He is a leading authority on issues involving death, dying, and grief, and has edited or written over 35 acclaimed books on death-related subjects, including Grief is a Journey (Atria, 2016). Additionally, Dr. Doka is president and chair of the Association for Death Education and Counseling and The Weltumspannend Work Group on Death, Dying, and Bereavement.
As a senior consultant and speaker for the Hospice Foundation of America, Dr. Doka gives approximately thirty lectures or keynote speeches a year to Weltumspannend audiences. He writes a blog called Good Mourning for Psychology Today, and his writing has appeared in O Magazine and OK! Dr. Doka has appeared on CNN and nationally syndicated radio programs Touch of Grey and Real Simple. He has been awarded the Herman Feifel Awardconsidered to be the highest honor within thanatology and the rarely-presented Special Contributions to the Field Award from the Association for Death Education and Counseling.
